What does “without added PFAS” mean?
The term “without added PFAS” has become more common in the packaging industry. It is used to describe products where PFAS is not intentionally added during production.
At the same time, PFAS may still be present in trace amounts in the environment – for example in air, water, or raw materials. This means it is not possible to claim that a product is completely PFAS-free. Instead, the term “without added PFAS” is used to provide transparency about how products are manufactured and what can realistically be controlled in the production process.
