Les forêts sous-marines recèlent notre plus grand allié : les algues. Elles poussent rapidement et n’ont besoin ni d’eau douce, ni de terre, ni d’engrais. Elles captent le carbone et rendent les eaux environnantes moins acides. Au-delà de cela, les algues sont disponibles en abondance.

Lorsqu’elles sont utilisées comme revêtement pour les emballages alimentaires, elles créent une barrière contre l’huile et la graisse, garantissant ainsi un transport et une utilisation sans fuite pour toute une gamme de nos aliments et plats à emporter préférés. Pour ajouter un autre argument en leur faveur du point de vue de la durabilité : leur empreinte carbone est bien inférieure à celle des revêtements ou laminations en plastique conventionnels.
